TEHRAN – The value of Iran’s exports to Nigeria in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-November 21) registered a 36 percent growth compared to the figure for the previous year’s same period, according to the deputy head of Iran-Africa Merchants Club.

Iran exported more than 195,000 tons of goods, valued at $115.4 million, to Nigeria in the said eight months, IRNA quoted Ruhollah Latifi as saying.

Urea, iron products, truck parts, tires, car accessories, glass containers, dishwashers, evaporative coolers, flooring, clothes, aluminum, rose water, kiwi, paint, biscuits, saffron, sofas, oil and oil filter were among the Iranian products exported to Nigeria in the mentioned eight months.

According to Latifi, Iran exported 266,000 tons of goods, valued at $125.3 million, to Nigeria in the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20), showing a 605 percent growth as compared to the preceding year.

He pointed to the products imported into Nigeria in 2021 and noted that $67.6 billion worth of products and services were imported into this African country in 2021, $52.4 of which were commodities, and $15.2 billion was related to technical-engineering services.

According to Latifi, the value of Iran’s total export to Africa rose 36 percent in the first eight months of the current year as compared to the same period of time in the previous year.

Iranian traders exported over 1,844,601 tons of commodities worth $990.569 million to African countries in the mentioned eight-month period.

The total trade between Iran and 38 African countries in the said eight-month was reported to be 1.914 million tons valued at $1.056 billion, of which the share of Iran’s imports was 69,031 tons valued at $66 million.

The trade between Iran and Africa increased by 10.5 percent in terms of weight and 39 percent in terms of value in the said period, Latifi said.

The imports from Africa also increased by 77 percent and 98 percent in terms of weight and value, respectively.

South Africa, Mozambique, and Sudan were the main export destinations, and Tanzania, Kenya, and South Africa were the major sources of imports for Iran among the African countries in the first eight months of the present year.
